Toucan with Shading

Even though it was Father's Day today we made time to do a few tangles.  I added shading to the Toucan (see above) and Ashley tried her hand at a Kingfisher.  We also tried out a few colors from my new set of Graphitint pencils by Derwent......such fun!  The softness of the colors we look well with a Zentangle and don't tend to overshadow the design.  Planning on doing more with the Graphitints and will post some photos later in the week.

Have a good week and happy tangling.

A Toucan Zentangle

I love to incorporate flowers and animals in my needlework designs, so I decided to play around with tangling a Toucan!  In an effort to keep it simple, my original drawing was greatly simplified as my tendency is to be to "fussy".  There is no shading in the this first one.....something to try out tomorrow.  But I think it will be fun to draw again....with all new patterns.   Next up, a flamingo or an ostrich?

Happy Father's Day

A Tangle day

My daughter, Ashley, and I had a fun day....I introduced her to Zentangle.   We watched the DVD and then listened to the Spirit Wind by Rick Roberts while we did tangles.  She got really into it and created five.  Now she has gone home with plans to introduce this creative and relaxing form of drawing to her friend.

I had a chance to do a few myself while she was involved with hers and have posted my favorite.  The tangle on the far right (above) was created by my friend Barbara Allen while we were at the recent CZT training, but I am uncertain of the name she has chosen for it.

I am leaving Wednesday on a needlework teaching trip and plan to take my Zentangle travel kit along.  It is much easier to work on a tangle than take the 16" X 18" current needlework project along!  So, I hope to have something to share when I return in a week.

Certified Zentangle Teacher

I have recently returned from Whitinsville, MA, where I attended the Certified Zentangle Teacher seminar.  Such a wonderful three days! We practiced our tangles, exchanged ideas, and learned fun and engaging ways to present Zentangle workshops....and more.
This is my very first Zentangle!

Two recent tangles!
In this and future posts I will talk about new tangles and coming events and show new tangles and ideas as they occur.  Please ask questions or leave comments anytime.  Soon I will be adding a page about Zentangle workshops, but until then, email me at, for further information.

Please visit again soon.
